One of our customers recently had an issue with his 2006 Porsche Boxster S.
After a night of heavy rain the interior cabin of his car became saturated with water. This alone would be a problem but after starting the car for the first time he found that his problem was becoming much larger. His convertible top was not functioning correctly, the immobilizer was intermittently working and various other electronic components were having functionality issues.
Once the car was delivered to our shop we began removing the interior seats, carpet and trim to get a better understanding of just how much water may have entered the car.
As you can see from the photos below there was approximately 2 inches of standing water on the drivers side of the car, which unfortunately almost fully submerged the control unit located under the drivers seat.
After removing the control unit we found that it was not salvageable and while waiting for the new unit to arrive continued to dry and clean the interior of the car. Once the new unit was installed and programmed thankfully most of the issues with the car were fixed and just a few other items including two new push rods for the convertible were installed to get the car back to full functionality.
